Areas of Expertise: Environmental engineering, nutrient removal in conventional wastewater treatment, and natural systems for wastewater treatment.
Background:
Dr. Kruzic has experience both as an environmental engineering
consultant and as an environmental engineer for a private utility
company. As a consultant, he was primarily responsible for process
selection and the design of several wastewater treatment facilities.
While working for the utilities company at Walt Disney World, Florida,
he was responsible for the design and initial operation of a
multi-sponsored wastewater demonstration project using water hyacinths.
His Ph.D. research was directed at the identification and modeling of
nitrogen removal mechanisms in overland flow treatment. After
completing his Ph.D. at U.C.D., he was awarded an Alexander von
Humboldt fellowship grant to conduct research in West Germany on
nitrogen removal in sequencing batch reactors. Dr. Kruzic's current
research deals with the beneficial use of alkaline-stabilized biosolids
and methods for enhancing nitrogen removal in natural treatment
systems.
